Matt 24 "Be on the Alert"

First Day Teaching, Sus, 9 July 1989

In Matt 24 it is apparent – obvious that the elect (those who have received the Holy spirit and are in fellowship with Him, the Body of Messiah) is here on earth during the tribulation period. In verse 22, ‘those days’ is speaking of the 7 year tribulation.

It says that false prophets will perform great ‘pentecostal’ signs and wonders. Why - In order to deceive the elect, it that were possible. He has told us beforehand. (Matt 24:21-25) False prophets will arise in the body to do false signs to deceive the elect.

Demons teach there is a pre-tribulation rapture, but we can see that the elct will be here on earth during the tribulation. When the son of Man gathers His elect (Matt 24:31) takes place is at the end of the tribulation period in the wilderness – wherever the 12 tribes are. ‘But of that day and hour, no one know, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the father alone.’ He is going to appear a second time for those who are expecting Him, who are eagerly awaiting Him. (Heb 9:28) ‘There shall be 2 men in the field, one is taken and one is left (Matt 24:40). There will be two women grinding at the mill, one is taken and one is left (v.41). This will be in the Edah in the wilderness.

Many people are left behind when the Edah flees to the wilderness in the last 3 ½ years, when the man of lawlessness comes and sits in the temple and we flee. But even some who go to the wilderness, since we do not know when He comes until the trumpet blows, will be left behind. Two women grinding flour for the loaf, one will be taken and one left – even in the wilderness. ‘Therefore keep watch because you do not know what day your master will come. V.42) The Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will (v.44).

One of the greatest armies that has ever been assembled – on horses, dressed in white – will be taken up. If we are not in fellowship, or our robes are not entirely clean, we will not be taken up to Him to come down with Him and destroy the kingdoms of the world – that is the Stone. Because of a lie you told and never owned up to it. No one ever knew; you never confessed it. You will not be taken.

Titus 2:13 Eagerly looking – longing for the appearing; 2 Tim 4:8 – those who have loved His appearing. Who is going to love His appearing? Those with a good conscience, those with not a wrinkle or a stain in their garment, those whose garments are white.

We must keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing. (1 Tim 2:14 ) What commandment is he talking about? John 13:34 – Love your neighbor as He loved us. That is the commandment. They got up every morning saying "Father, help me to keep the commandment." We are tokeep it without stain or reproach or we eill be the one who is left behind. It does not mean that we do not belong with Him but it means that we cannot be with Him and be the Stone that crushes Satan’s kingdoms because we had a stain on our garment.

He will gather His army of white robed saints who are called ‘the called, the chosen and the faithful’ (rev 17:14). We have a holy calling (2 Tim 1:9,10). In 2 Tim 4:1, the ‘dead’ are the ones who have gone before us; and the ‘living’ are the ones who are alive until he comes. We must abide in Him. ‘ this, love is perfected with us that we may have confidence in the day of judgment.’ (1 Jn 4:17; 1 Jn 2:28). We must abide in Him. This ishow we will have our garments white. So we will not shrink away in shame at His coming, will not be left in the wilderness. Can you imagine not being there with the stone? But of those who flee to the wilderness when the Edah (woman) flees, two men will be I the field and two women at the mill (Mt 24:40,41) and some will be left behind. Therefore keep watch, be alert because you do not know what day your Master will come (v.44).

He shall appear a second time to those who eagerly await Him for deliverance, salvation (Heb 9:28). What does it take to eagerly await Messiah? If we have a good conscience and are loving our brothers according to the commandment. That ishow we know if we have passed out of death: if we love our brothers. Doctrine says in John 5:24 that whoever believes has passed out of death, but it is doctrine. The only way you know that you have is that you do love your brothers. And how do we know what love is? 1 Jn 3:16 – We know love by this: He laid down His life for us, we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.

You do not have to wonder if the churches we used to be in had the Holy spirit. There is no possible that they could have because they are not living according to the commandment. We can see who is going to be taken. In the parable of the ten virgins (Matt 25), the foolish virgins just did what they ahd to do and nothing else, the five prudent, smart, wise virgins were those who were ready when He came. Therefore be on the alert.

You can see in Rev 19:7 there is a rejoicing because the marriage has come and the bride made herself ready by keeping her garment clean by keeping the commandment without stain or reproach. The garment was not kept clean by falling into sinning every 5 minutes in the wilderness and not loving and then confessing it. At that time we will not be so cruel. We will not be sinning. But if we do, we have an advocate with the Father. The saints righteous deeds and good works were what made their garments the way they were.

Blessed are those invited to the marriage supper – the 1000 years. Then after the supper is over – the 8th day – you get married. (Like our weddings, first the supper, then you get married). Rev 19 – at Armageddon, all the armies of the world are assembled in that valley to make war with the King of Kings, against the Stone. (v.19) They are going to try to destroy us. But v.18 and 19 is the Stone crushing them; and they are thrown into the lake of fire (v.20).

You can see the fully developed commonwealth of the 12 tribes of Israel in Rev 12. This is the woman – 12 tribes – the household of God. She is clothed with the sun, the light of the world, with the moon under her feet. This means that all of your emotions, everything that wanes about you is gone. You are only waxing.

The Edah went to the wilderness in the last 3 ½ years (v.6 & 14) and are ironing their garments in the wilderness. They are doing righteous acts like they have never done before, but they might not be taken – so we have got to be ready.

‘See to it that no one misleads you.’ (Mark 13:5); ‘be on your guard’ (v.9); ‘take heed, I have told you in advance’ (v.23); ‘take heed, keep on the alert (v.33); we do not know when the Master of the house is coming (v.35), be on the alert lest he find you asleep. These are the last important words he left His disciples – if you are not interested – are indifferent, passive, or do not really believe it – you will be left behind. Take heed what you have heard. Never say that you have not been warned. (Matt 24:25)

Someday when the Edah grows, you will see people leaving and coming in every day. There is an element in each person here. Do not assume that just because you are here today that you are going to be here tomorrow. Be on the alert, on guard. Keep watch. (1 Cor 10:12)

So the saints will go through the tribulation period. Dan 7;25 talks about being afflicted during the first part of the tribulation period. When the Master comes back with all those armies He will afflict those who afflicted you. (2 Thess 1:6). Retribution will be dealt to those who afflicted you. (2 Thess 1:6). Retribution will be dealt to those who do not obey the gospel. This is the last day of recorded human history in this age, the last day when YAHSHUA returns and rescues His saints and at the same time pours out retribution on those who refuse to believe.

John Darby brought the false doctrine of pre-tribulation rapture into the Christian church. He is going to pay for that.

1 Thess 4:15 – 5:1 Those who have fallen asleep (v.15) meaning those who died in communion shall rise first. Then those who are alive until His coming will meet them. They will all be in white on horses and will always be with Him. Have you comforted anyone with these words?

The day will come like a theif in the night (1 Thess 5:1) (there is no need for anything to be written to them about this because he already told them about it when he was with them. 2 Thess 2:5), so be alert, sober, cognitive, diligent, self controlled. If we are not self controlled we will be led astray. The only way we know if we have passed out of death is if we love our brothers as YAHSHUA loved us. Did YAHSHUA pray for you? Did He pray for His brothers?

It says in 1 Jn 3:14-18 that you cannot just love in tongue and word but whoever has the worlds goods does not share it with his brother who is in need, does not have love. When our hearts condemn us, then we know we are of the truth.

There are two kings in Luke 14:31, one stronger and one weaker. Will the weaker one not first sit down and take counsel and while the stronger one is still far off, ask for terms of peace? (v.32) YAHSHUA is still far off, but someday He is going to come right down upon people when it is too late. Today is the day of salvation. Therefore (v.33,34) – the most wonderful thing a person can do is give up their life and possessions, it is something you have to do. Your possessions are your security, your everything – everything you own, you have earned. It is such a wonderful pleasure to give it over to YAHSHUA.

The steward in Luke 16:9 cut the bills of his master’s debtors in half in order to have somewhere to live. He acted shrewdly. Our Master said ‘therefore’ (in relationship t the context) make friends for yourself with all the money you have made in the world so that when it fails you may have an eternal dwelling. If you give it away to your parents or your ungodly friends, you are making homes for yourself with them. Submit it to the apostles feet who would do, with mercy and compassion, the righteous thing with that money.

Peter said (Mark 10:29) we have left everything to follow you. He shall receive 100 times as much in this present age and eternal life (v.30). If you deprive the Body of these things, you have not only deprived them of one item, you have deprived them of 100. People gave their houses and the apostles sold them, got money, and distributed it to whoever had need.

Yoneq said that he was telling Hasah ba Hagav today that her sister, Jan, left because of her children. She left because of her children. That meant that she hated YAHSHUA – put Him aside (which is an expression of hate) for her children. Our Master said that unless a person comes to me and puts aside – gives up father, mother, children, etc. (not just your own life), he cannot be my disciple. So who did she hate, her children or YAHSHUA? (Luke 14:26) Is she worthy of Him? (Matt 10:37) No. Can she love our Master and still have her children? The bell tolled for her. The hammer fell on her. She never loved YAHSHUA. She expressed hatred for Him because she left the Edah for her children. He who does not take up His cross is not worthy of Him.
