Profile: Christadelphians

Founded:   By John Thomas (1805-1871) in 1838 in Illinois.  The denomination was officially incorporated in 1865.

Current Organization:  Scattered throughout the United States, Europe and Africa, with approximately 55,000 members.

Description:   The Christadelphians are a Bible-based sect started by John Thomas which was influenced by the teachings of Alexander Campbell of the Disciples of Christ movement.  Thomas believed that his "ecclesia" or church held to the original teachings of the apostles, and that all other churches, including those of Protestantism, had fallen away from the truth, being influenced by paganism.  They consider doctrines such as trinitarianism and salvation by faith false doctrines.
